Biography
Growing up in Atlantic City, NJ., Gregg began actively studying percussion at the age of 5. By age 13, he was commuting from Atlantic City to Philadelphia studying timpani and vibraphone with a minor of flute and piano composition at the world renowned conservatory, The Settlement School of Music in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Founded in 1908. He had quickly developed a distinct style musically in performance.
Arriving in New York City at the age of 17 living in the West Village, he parked his 1966 Volkswagen microbus loaded with drums living in his camper van for a year and a half and performed on the streets and subways.
Finally leasing his apartment living on MacDougal Street, he started playing jazz flute on the streets of Greenwich Village and Washinton Square Park.
He soon joined a collective of four brilliant masterful musicians consisting of a vibraphone player, Gregg playing flute, soprano sax and assorted percussion Instruments. There was also an acoustic guitar player and vocaliest, a upright bass player on the Greenwich Village streets of New York City, Gregg began attracting attention. As soon as he arrived his talent was quickly discovered and began working along side some of music’s greatest iconic entertainers playing drums, flute, piano and keyboards. From recording the flute solo on Gloria Estefan’s platinum awarded hit “Turn The Beat Around” to the great jazz guitarist, Stanley Jordon, Iggy Pop, Roy Orbison, Rodger Daltrey of The Who, Billy Idol and renowned guitarist, Steve Stevens of "Billy Idol" on his solo project “Atomic Playboys”.
Gregg join Billy Idol’s band where he later went on to record the epic White Wedding (live) and Rebel Yell recordings among other recordings with many notable artist.
Gregg has since relocated from New York City’s Greenwich Village to San Diego, CA., and is a quick drive to LA to play in any given situation…
